Who we are
Engling, Stritter & Partners is an eminent Namibian legal practice which has handled a number of high profile projects and cases on behalf of the Namibian government, privately-owned local and international companies and international agencies.
The firm has earned an entry in Chambers’ World’s Leading Lawyers annually and uninterruptedly since the first edition in 2000. Commentators readily acknowledge our Managing Partner, Hans-Bruno Gerdes as "the senior statesman of commercial lawyers in Namibia". The firm enjoys a high profile in the Namibian legal and business community, being primarily a commercial and corporate legal practice.
What we do
The practice specialises in all matters commercial, including intellectual property, estate administration, coveyancing, mergers and acquisitions, finance and infrastructure transactions, cross-border financing, due diligence reviews and reports, tenement reports, legal opinions, contractual drafting, advising and representing clients in negotiations and drafting subsequent agreements, and the provision of advisory and regulatory services to corporate and commercial entities in various sectors such as mining, environment, petroleum and energy, information technology and telecommunications.
The firm also has an active litigation department in respect of general civil and commercial matters, as well as matters relating to labour, trademark litigation, mining law, competition law and mergers and acquisitions.
Engling, Stritter & Partners also have long standing relationships with correspondent firms and act on instructions of some of the most prominent legal practices in South Africa and globally.
Areas of practice have generally been allocated to different partners. Commercial, corporate and contractual matters are mostly dealt with by Hans-Bruno Gerdes, Axel Stritter and Alet Louw, supported by our associates James Smith and Nawalan Kamati. Civil and commercial litigation and dispute resolution is attended to by Mark Kutzner, Elize Yssel and Zureuka Majiedt supported by our associate, Daneale Beukes, while conveyancing and notarial matters are dealt with by Clifford Bezuidenhout and Heiko Stritter, supported by our associate and erstwhile partner, Carl-Heinz Scriba.
