  • Conducted legal research, inter alia, on the data protection requirements in Namibia for the Worth Street Group GmbH, a company that provides international financial and criminal law assistance to both private and public entities across different jurisdictions; on exchange control services, money laundering, tax and loan restrictions, the protection of personal data as well an analysis of the banking laws and regulations in Namibia for the Global Exchange Group, a company that provides foreign exchange and international payment solutions; and telecommunications and trans-portation laws and regulations for Uber B.V., a company with a license to operate the Uber technology platform and thus facilitate on-demand car services through the ‘Uber App’, which connects passengers with drivers
  • Conducted various due diligences in connection with local mergers and acquisitions by private equity companies; including Pointbreak in its investment into Neo Paints Factory (Pty) Ltd and Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (DEG) in its investment into Deep Catch Holdings Ltd
  • Acted as part of the local counsel team for Xaris Energy (Pty) Ltd (Xaris), a power generation company, in a review application in the High Court of Namibia instituted by Arandis Power (Pty) Ltd against the decision of the Namibia Power Corporation (Nampower) to grant a tender for the construction of a 230MW power plant at Walvis Bay, which the court decided in favour of Xaris
  • Acted as local counsel for several international entities, including Southern Sun Hotels, Apple Inc and Red Bull, in matters relating to the enforcement of their copyright and trade mark rights in the High Court of Namibia
  • Acted for Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb (Pty) Ltd, a mining company, by providing legal advice and facilitating the implementation of the housing scheme for its employees; as well as providing advice on the implementation of the empowerment scheme relating to previously disadvantaged persons
  • Acted for Puma Energy (Pty) Ltd, a supplier of fuels, lubricants and other oil products, as local counsel by providing legal advice relating to agency agreements and employment matters.
